विजक्राफ्ट के निदेशक सब्बास जोसफ ने एक वक्तव्य जारी कर कहा है, "विजक्राफ्ट का दक्षिण अफ्रीका के साथ गर्मजोशी वाला सम्बंध रहा है। दूसरे 'आईआईएफए वीकेंड एंड अवार्ड' का 2001 में सनसिटी में आयोजन हुआ था। इसके बाद 2003 में एक बार फिर जोहांनसबर्ग में यह आयोजन हुआ जो दोनों देशों के बीच मजबूत रिश्ते को बताता है।"
उन्होंने कहा कि विजक्राफ्ट अब फिर डरबन में एक समारोह आयोजित कर रहा है, जिसमें भारतीय सिनेमा और क्रिकेट को प्रमुखता दी जाएगी।वर्ष 1860 में दक्षिण अफ्रीका जाकर वहां के गन्ने के खेतों में काम करने वाले पहले भारतीय कामगारों की याद में इस समारोह का आयोजन किया जा रहा है।
समारोह में क्रिकेट जगह की महान हस्तियों भारत के सचिन तेंदुलकर और दक्षिण अफ्रीका के मखाया नितिन को सम्मानित किया जाएगा। समारोह में कई दक्षिण अफ्रीकी कलाकार भी प्रस्तुति
